Mody Lemonが熱演を繰り広げているうちに、続々とお客さんが詰め掛け、「マンゴージュース」が流れる頃には場内、大入り！昨日にも劣らない熱気に迎えられライブが始まった。

2日目ということもあり、メンバーものっけからリラックスした様子。「KONNICHIWA」「がんばれバイソン」とキメ、直子さんの「We are Shonen Knife from Osaka Japan！！」という一声に続いて「LAZY BONE」へとなだれ込む。

中盤、HEAVY SONGSからの曲を披露して、「すしバーソング」。バンドと客席との一体感が場内を包む。お客さんもみんなニコニコしてるぞー。

今ツアーの定番「コブラvsマングース」であっという間に本編終了！割れんばかりの拍手に答えて、アンコールに演奏されたのは「Daydream Believer」「E.S.P.」「Twist Barbie」の3曲。ライブの余韻を後に外に出ると、いつのまにか雨はあがっていた。

大盛況の内に終わったニューヨークでのライブ3連発。バンドを暖かく迎えてくれた皆さん、ほんとにありがどう！
ナイフ久々のアメリカツアー、残すは3公演のみ。カナダのモントリオール、トロント、そして最終日ハロウィーンの日は再びアメリカに戻りデトロイト。きっと各地でもこの調子でオーディエンスをRockしてくれることだろう！Good Luck！！

NY – The Knitting Factory The second day #3
The audience was getting larger in the Modey Lemon’s impassioned performance. It was full to the doors when the Shonen Knife started playing “Mango Juice.” Members of the Shonen Knife were relaxed playing “KONNICHIWA”, “Cheer Up Bison” and “Lazy Bone” after the shout of Naoko, “We are Shonen Knife from Osaka, Japan!” Songs from the album, “Heavy Songs”, “Sushi Bar Song” with sense of unity with the audience and the Shonen Knife members. Everybody was smiling. After finishing with “Cobra & Mongoose”, they played “Daydream Believer”, “E.S.P.” and “Twist Barbie”, responding to cheers and applause from the audience. I felt their music lingering on in my mind and found that it had stopped raining when the performance was over.

They did it successfully for three days in NY. Thank you so much for giving them your warm welcome. This is the US / Canada tour after five years. Now they have only just three days, Montreal, Toronto and Detroit returning to the US from Canada on Halloween. They will rock all of us as much as ever. Good luck!!

そんな事情もあって、今日のフロントアクトは昨日に引き続いてのMody Lemon1組。ちなみにバンドが演奏を始めた時点で会場はまだ3割ほどの入り…。

少ないお客さんにも関わらず、バンドはテンションの高い白熱した演奏を展開。歌を基本としつつも、ブレイクや変拍子を効果的にアレンジした楽曲。グランジの精神を受け継いで今のシーンを見据えた音楽性。これは近い将来ブレイクする可能性大、と見た！

The opening act was the Modey Lemon today, too, in these circumstances. At the beginning of their performance, the venue was covered with just 30% of the capacity. Despite a small audience, the performance of the Modey Lemon was so heated and amazing with songs arranged effectively. They take over the spirit of the grunge rock with current music scene. 10月28日月曜日、NYは雨。時折風も強く、嵐のように激しく降る時もあった。うーん、集客が心配。

しかも、この日はライブがダブルヘッダーで、ナイフのライブの後、深夜からまた別のライブがブッキングされている。もちろん、お客さんは入れ替え。なので、開演時間も通常より早く、21：00（！）から。ライブハウスの都合とはいえ、お客さんはその辺、ちゃんとわかってるの？って感じ。実際、メンバーも昨日終演後、サインをしに物販コーナーに出たとき、何人かから尋ねられたという。さて…

NY – The Knitting Factory The second day #1
It’s raining, windy and sometimes stormy in NY today. That worried me about today’s attendance…Moreover there were a doubleheader here. After the Shonen Knife live performance, another live were supposed to book from midnight. Of course the audience should be shifted. So the gig would start at 9:00p.m. earlier than usual. I was worried if the audience knew that…wait and see.

どこまでメッセージ書いたっけ。ともかく、シカゴ、クリーブランド、フィラデルフィア、そしてニューヨーク3連発ライブしました。これ、全部連続でやってます。明日はカナダのモントリオール。うわっ、またまた7日連続ライブだー。

ともかく、10月22日、シカゴでライブやって次の日、超ロングドライブでクリーブランドへ行って、ライブ。そしてまた次の日、長い長いドライブでフィラデルフィアへ行きライブ。ライブが終わってそのまま車で2時間ほどかけてニューヨークへ。着いたら夜中（朝？）の4時を過ぎていた。

次の日は昼過ぎからサウンドチェックしてライブ。ライブは夜の11時半スタート。で、その次の日、つまり今日（あ、もう昨日になっちゃった）は朝起きて在ニューヨークカナダ領事館へ行ってビザを取得。
なんだかんだで、これに4時間もかかっちゃったわー。そのあとランドリーで洗濯していたらもうサウンドチェックの時間。ということで、せっかくニューヨークに来たというのに、何も見れず、どこへも行けず、何も買ってません。とほほ、まーいいけどさ。

そしてライブ。大盛況で嬉しかったっす。（N.Y．でのライブ様子は「Message from STAFF」欄を見てください。）
あしたは朝10時15分ホテルを出発だけど、今もう夜中の3時。ああ、ますます睡眠不足だー。では、明日、モントリオールがんばります。ボンジュールモントリオール。

歓声と拍手に迎えられ、メンバーがステージに上がる。いつもの「KONNICHIWA」でライブスタート。

バンドのコンディションは今日もバッチリ！タイトな演奏で曲を進めていく。
「一番新しいアルバム、HEAVY SONGSは聴いてくれた？」（もちろん英語です）と直子さん。続いて「A Map Master」から新曲が演奏される。「Rubber Band」ではあの「ラババン、ラババン、ラバラバラババン」のパートでみんなが一緒になってかなり盛り上がる。

「コブラvs マングース」で場内のテンションもピークに達し本編終了。鳴り止まない拍手の中、アンコール「アントニオバカ貝」でライブを締めくくった。

Members of the Shonen Knife appeared on the stage with enthusiastic applause starting “KONNICHIWA”. They were in perfect condition also today! They were going on with their steady performance. Naoko asked the audience, “Have you tried our new album, Heavy Songs yet?” following “A Map Master” and some new songs. When the song, “Rubber Band”, started, the place really came alive with shouts, “rubber band, rubber band, rubber rubber rubber band!” accompanied. The tension at the place reached its peak by the last song, “Cobra VS Mongoose”. In a storm of applause, they played “Antonio Baka Guy” as an encore finally.

３番目に出演したModey Lemon。編成はボーカル＆ギター＆シンセ、ギター＆シンセ、そしてドラムの3ピース。
サウンドはストゥジーズにエレクトロな要素をミックスした感じで、ハードなステージングを披露。いや、かなりカッコよかったッス。皆さん、要チェックですよ！！

尚、このModey Lemon、シカゴ公演からフロントアクトを務め、10月30日カナダのトロント公演まで一緒に周る予定。
