カート・コバーンがモチーフの映画「LAST DAYS」にリンクしたトリビュートアルバム「LAST DAYS tribute to Mr.K」のために書いた曲、「Like a salmon」について解説いたス。

I’ve wrote a new song called Like a salmon for a tribute album called LAST DAYS tribute to Mr.K. This album links to a movie LAST DAYS which motif if Kurt Cobain of Nirvana. I’d like to comment on my new song.

この曲のテーマはズバリ「鮭」。見かけは黒くてイカツイけど、切り身は鮮やかなサーモンピンク。これって不思議だなと思ったところから曲作りに入った。

The theme of this song is a salmon. Its appearance is a little ugly but its meat is beautiful salmon pink. I was wondering about it then I started to write a song.

ネットで「鮭」について調べているうちに、鮭ってカートのふるさと、シアトルの川にもいること、海水でも淡水でも生きられること、川で生まれて海を旅してまた生まれた川に戻り、その川を傷つきながら遡り、卵を産んだら死ぬこと、などがわかった。なんだかこれってなんだか彼の人生と重なるところがあるかも、なーんて思ったんだにゃー。

I reserched about salmon through internet and I found that salmon is living in a nothern river including rivers in Seattle, it can alive in fresh water and salty water, born in a river and travel to the sea then go back to a river where they were born and go up the river with injury, it dies soon after spawn. I’v found it may looks like Kurt’s life.

メロディーはあえて明るく。カートがテーマっていうとみんなマイナー調になりがちだろうから、あえて狙って(^-^);メジャー調にした。

I put the major melody line on it. I’ve thought if the theme of the album was Kurt, other musicians might write minor songs. I chose to write a major song.

「いくら」はすなわち彼の音楽の分子なんだにゃー。

Do you know Ikura? It’s salmon roe, famous for sushi topping. Anyway, I think Ikura is a morecule of Kurt’s music.

先日から、忙しいだなんだって騒いでた理由の一つはレコーディング。

One reason why recently I was so busy is recording.

2曲別々にレコーディングしたんだけど、それぞれ別のプロジェクトだす。その一つはみなさんももうチェックしておられるかな？映画「Last Days」にちなんだKurt Cobainトリビュートアルバム「LAST DAYS tribute to Mr.K」への書き下ろし曲、「Like a salmon」　曲に関することは雑誌「TONE」にも載っておりやす。で、5日には、江戸へ行って、映画の舞台挨拶みたいなのをするのだぞぅ。ぱおー。

We had two recording projents. One is for the tribute album LAST DAYS tribute to Mr. K. Last Days is a title of a movie which story is about Kurt Cobain of Nirvana. I wrote a new song for the album. The song title is Like a salmon. The details of my song is written in a magazine TONE May issue. I’ll go to Tokyo for greeting from stage at movie theater on Apr. 5.

舞台挨拶かーっ。俳優さんがよくやっとるよなぁ。わたしみたいなんがが出るのは恥ずかしいにゃあ。でも、ステキな映画なのでいいことだにゃあ。

It’s a cool movie so I’m glad to show up at the stage of movie thater.

もう一つは、日本のバンド、「スピッツ」の曲「チェリー」のカバー。こちらは大阪のFM802のプロジェクト。おとといあたりからオンエアされているぞぅ。ぱおー。

Another recording was for cover of a Japanese band called Spitz. We played their song Cherry. It’s a project for FM802 in Osaka. Shonen Knife version of Cherry is aired from a few days ago. Please check it out.

チェリー、ステキな曲だね。ナイフバージョンのコンセプトはサイケ、ソフトロックって感じです。春らしい感じに仕上がったと思うよ。

Cherry is a beautiful song. The concept of our version is Psychedelic. I’m sure that our cover is a good match for this Spring season.

2週間ほど前、こんなところへ行ってきた。相撲発祥の地、と駅前には書いてあったがー。ほんまだろうか。

About 2 weeks ago, I went to this place. There is a big sign in front of the nearest station and it said Sumo was started from this town. Is this true?

Recently, I’m very busy. I even have no time to play tennis. Such busy situation made me making an error. I left an important document at a bathroom of a building in town. 10 minutes later, I noticed that I forgot to take my important document. I ran and ran back to the bathroom. When I found it, I felt relieved. I convinced that if I’m busy, I have to be careful more than usual.

最近すごく忙しい。テニスする時間さえないくらい。くーっ。そういった多忙がうっかりミスを招いてしもたー。さる重要書類を街のトイレに忘れたのだー。トイレから出てきて10分ぐらい歩いたところまで来てやっと忘れたことに気づき、そして走った、走った。忘れた地点まで戻り、忘れたブツを見つけたときはほんまに生き返った気分がしたぜ。

ここで教訓。忙しいときほど慎重になれ。

今日1曲のレコーディングが終わった。3日間にわたる作業だった。終わったと思ったら身体がだるい。熱を測ってみると37度の微熱がある。疲れてるんだなー、わたし。

I finished recording of one song today. I was at the studios three days. After the recording was over, I felt weary. Then I tried to take my temperature. I’ve got a slight fever. I am tired...

レコーディングやらなにやらで忙しくてアップする時間がないですぅ。すみませんっ。桜の花もぽつぽつ咲き出したね。ところで、4月は片付け月間にしようと思っています。

I’m so busy for recording and some other things and I have no time to update this site. Sorry. Did you see the cherry trees start to flowering? By the way, I have a plan to tide up my house during April.

おいおいおいおい、もう三月も終わりだぜ！でも、先週の日曜はあられというかヒョウというか、そういったものが降ったし、最近は雨が多いし、風も強いし。でも、もう春ですね。冬に植えたパンジーの花も咲きました。

京大西部講堂かぁ。久しぶりに出ます。楽しみ。京都のいい空気を思いっきり吸ってこよう。

Shonen Knife will play at Kyoto University’s hall on April 9th. There might be fresh air in Kyoto. I’d like to refresh my body with it.

先日、大阪の阪急池田駅近くにある、インスタントラーメン発明記念館へ行って来た。駅を降りるなり「ああ、いい空気だなー。」と思ったので、空気の吸い貯めをしておいた。（へんな人）

The other day, I went to the Instant Ramen Invention Anniversary Museum near Ikeda-station of Hankyu railway. Instant Ramen means Instant noodles. Righgt after I got off the train at Ikeda-station, I felt Ahhh, what a fresh air!. Then I took a deep breath like storing up the fresh air. ’Cos my neighbors air is polluted.

現地では、展示物を見たり、オリジナルカップラーメンを作ったりして楽しんだ。まだ食べていないけど、どんな味だろう。わたしはインスタントラーメン好きです。アメリカツアーに行くときは必ずもって行き、ほっとしたいときに食べるんだにゃー。

At the museum, I enjoyed to see displays and made ordermade cupnoodles. I still keep it at my house. What is the taset? I like instant noodles. I bring them when I tour in North America and eat them when I want to be relaxed.

ここ数日、「脳を鍛えるなんとか」っつう携帯ゲームソフトに、ちょっとばかしハマってる。内蔵されているゲームの中でわたしが好きなのは、漢字とか数字を数分間見て覚えて後から書くってやつ。だんだんコツみたいのがわかってきて、昨日は25個のうち20個数字を覚えることが出来た！パーフェクトまでもうちょっとやー。漢字の方ももっとやりたいー。

今日はリハーサルを4時間みっちりやって体力消耗。眠い。リハーサルはいい感じに進んでいるのでライブが楽しみっ！

In these days, I’m absorbed in train your brains which is a software for a pocket video game. There are many games in one software. I especially like memorize game. I have to memorize Kanji characters indicated on the liquid screen as many as I can in a few minutes. We also have the version of figures. I could memorize 80% of them. I’d like to do perfect soon.

I rehearsed 4 hours today. Now I’ve got very tired and I’d like to go to bed as soon as possible. Our rehearsal went well. I’m looking foward to our shows in April.

先日、市内某所にて食事をした。そのレストランでマグロとアボカドのカルパッチョみたいなのが出てきたので、「これはおいしそう！」と食した。それから約30分後、皆と歓談中に胃がぎゅーっと痛くなってきた。なんでや？あ、そうやわたしはアボカドに弱いんやった！思い出したのは後の祭りで雪隠へ急行、うげーっ！

I went to a restaurant with my friends. I ate marinated tuna and avocado. It looked delicious. 30 minutes later, I had a bad stomachache and got sick during we were talking. Why? Oh, I remembered that I had an avocado allergy! It was too late. I rushed to the bathroom.

　他のおいしいお料理も満足に食べられず残念だったー。でも家に帰るころには回復しておりやした。

I missed to eat other delicious dishes. But I recovered by the time I went home.

　アメリカツアーのときもよくアボカドが出てくるけど、なんどか身体の調子が悪くなったことがある。それにも懲りずに何度も食べてるんだけど、今度からはもう食べないぞー。

When I tour in America, I sometimes eat avocado and got sick. But I’ll never eat avocado.

Deep Purpleもうすぐ来日するな。行くかどうかはまだ決めてないっすけど。で、先日Deep Purpleのファーストアルバム「ハッシュ」をゲット。このアルバムの中では今まで「ハッシュ」1曲だけしか聴いたことなかった。ボーカリストがまだイアン・ギランじゃなくてロッド・エバンスやねん。ぜんぜんハードロックじゃなくて超サイケでドラッギーでめちゃかっこよかった。聴いてたら気持ちが飛んで行っちゃうような。ふわーっ。
注：写真はDeep Purpleとは関係ありません。(笑)

Deep Purple will come to Japan soon. I haven’t decided to see their show or not. I’ve got their first album Hush. I’ve only known the song Hush in this album. The vocalist was Rod Evans not Ian Gillan. It isn’t Hard Rock album but Psychedelic and druggie. It’s so cool! I love this album. I felt like flying when I listened to this album.

先週から今週にかけて行ったライブは、DeerhoofとDinosaur Jr.なーのだー。

I went to see DeerhoofとDinosaur Jr. in these two weeks.

先週土曜日、十三ファンダンゴでDeerhoof見ました！パンダパンダぁぁぁーーーとか、とっても楽しかった。彼らとは2003年にサンフランシスコでいっしょにライブしたんすよ。Deerhoofの新作に収録の曲、O’Malley, Former Underdogは、メンバーのSatomiさんいわく、ナイフをイメージして作ったそうです。うれしいね。注：O’Malleyってかつて阪神タイガースにいた選手です。

I went to see Deerhoof on last Saturday at Fandango, Juso. It was very fun. I like Panda Panda...song. Shonen Knife played with them in San Francisco in 2003. The member Satomi said that a song called O’Malley, Forer Underdog was written with an image of Shonen Knife. Cool. O’Malley was a baseball player at Hanshin Tigers.

ファンダンゴ行ったら「ここはどこだー？」と思うぐらい外国の人の割合が多かった。すごい。

There were so many foreign audience at Fandango. It was as if I was in a foreign country.

そして、今日、なんばHatchにDinosaur Jr.見に行った。あれ、Johnny Winterがギター弾いている？なーんて思っちゃった。(^^);

Then, today I went to see Dinosaur Jr. at Namba Hatch. Mmm...? Was Jonny Winter playing the guitar on stage??? I thought so. Hee hee.

こちらのライブもとても楽しかったです。爆音だったので、耳栓して聴いてました。それぐらいで丁度よかったー。

I enjoyed the show very much. The sound was very loud and I used ear plugs. They made my ear confortable.

ロックな週なーのだ。

先日、電車に乗ったところ、何か臭う。ケミカルな臭い。なんやこりゃー、毒ガステロか？！と思いきや、隣に座っている５０がらみの女性を見たら、ディオールのマニキュア（ネイルエナメル）を手にもってるではないかっ。爪を見たらエナメル塗りたて。うわー、信じられんな。こういうヤツ。お行儀悪いだけじゃ済まされないぞー。自分のことしか考えないサイテーの輩じゃのう。（おじいさんみたいな言い方になっとる）降りるとき顔を見evilそのものだったー。

The other day, I took a train and smelled something. It a kind of chemical smell. What’s this? A poison gas terrorism??? Then I found a woman next to my seat who was early 50’s holded a bottle of Christian Dior’s nail polish. She had just polished her nails. Oh no! I can’t believe. What an ill-mannered woman. She is a goofy and a self-centered person. When I got off the train I saw her face. It was just like evil.

冬季オリンピック、ぜんぜん見る暇ないよー。っていうかテレビ自体ほとんど見てないんだなー。明日時間があったら総集編みてみたいっす。

オリンピックって、始まる前は「開会に向けて会場整備の工事が滞っています」なーんてニュースがあって、始まってみたらそんな話はどっかいってしもて、間に合っているのかなんだか、話題にもならんよな。実態はどうなんやろ。

イタリア行ってライブしたいな。一回しかライブしたことないからなぁ。

I have no time to watch the Torino Olympic Games, ah! Rather than that, I usually don’t watch TV so much. If I have time, I’d like to watch a TV program showing hilights of it.

Talking about Olympics, I always saw the same news before it started. It’s like Construction of Olympic studiums is delayed. Then once the games are started, no one talk about it. I’d like to know which the construntions worked or now.

Anyway, I want to go to Italy and have shows. I only go there once.

何週間か前にボウリングに行った。すごーく久しぶりだった。わたしは大体いつも50点とかそんなもんで、かなり下手くそだ。でも、今回は3ゲームのアベレージが80から90ぐらいだった。そして、3ゲームとも同じような点数だった。

点数は悪いには違いないけど、3ゲームの結果が安定していたという点は良かったと思う。これはテニスやってることとなんとなく関係があるような気がするな。ゲームスポーツを日常的にやってると、ちょっとぐらいは体力とメンタルのトレーニングにはなっているんだろう。テニスの試合も集中力が必要で、それが途切れたら負けることが多いんだな。集中していると勝ちにつながるんだな。

I went to Bowling after a long time. Usually my avarage was 50 or so. I’m a very poor bowler but my average became 80-90 this time. I played 3 games and the score of all games are mostly the same. I could play stable games. I think it is good thing. I’m sure it relate that I play tennis often.
Playing tennis made me strongand it became a good chance of mental training. We need concentration when we play tennis match. When it will be broken, we will easily lose a game. Concentration in important for games.

もうすぐひな祭り。ボクはミュージシャンだ！
Hinamatsuri, the Girl’s festival is coming. It is a traditional event for female children. We celebrate it on March 3rd. Almost a month before the festival, the family who has female children display dolls. This photo is one of the dolls which is an musician.

Recording was done. Everything went well. Now we have one more cool new song. I can’t write about the details so far because of contract but when it will be ready, I’ll tell you. In these few weeks, I don’t play tennis so much. I have no time to play tennis. I’m starved of playing tennis! I still busy about other things...

For the recording, Etsuko played powerful, groovy drums and for the backing vocals, Ritsuko who is a leader of Denki Candy sang as a guest player. I’d like to say thank you for them.

レコーディング無事終わった。とてもクールな曲が誕生したのだー。詳細は今のところまだ公開できないけど、まもなくみなさまにお知らせできると思います。このところ忙しくてテニスやってないーっ。餓えてるにゃー。でも、他のことも色々忙しくてやばいっすー。

ところで、今回レコーディングでは、えっちゃんがドラムを叩いてくれました。いやー、パワフルでかっこいいドラミングです。すてき！ありがとーね！
それからゲストバックバックボーカリストとして「電気キャンディー」のマリリン（りつこさん）が参加してくれました。ほんとに、ありがとう。
みんなのお陰で楽しく、無事レコーディングができたよ。

2006/02/16

昨日今日とドラム、ベース、ギター、ボーカルとほとんどのパートの録音が出来た。後は明日、すこしオーバーダビングしてミックスだー。とてもかっこよく仕上がってきてると思う。

昨日の晩から風邪気味で、喉が痛くて夜中に目が覚めたぐらいだった。なので、今日の歌入れはどうなるんだろーと思ったけど、薬飲んだらなんとか治まって、無事録音できた。喉がすこし荒れているぐらいの方がロックっぽくってよかったかもなーんて思った。明日もがんばります。

We recorded most of all parts like drums, bass, guitar and vocals, yesterday and today. We will do some over dubbing and mix down tomorrow. The song is almost done and it became very cool tune.

I had a cold from yesterday night. I had very bad throat ache. It made me woke up. I was anxious about recording of my vocal but it was getting better after I took medicine. I could record well. I think a little hoarse voice is rather like rock.

I’ll do my best for recording tomorrow, too.

I’ve just been to BMX Bandits show in Osaka. They had a great show. More than 10 year ago, Shonen Knife and they toured in U.K. for three weeks. Duglas the vocalist is the only a member who continue the band. Other members were left the band but new line up was good, too.

Their show reminds me of the tour in U.K. Now I want to go to tour in U.K. again...

Oh, of course I’d like to Seattle, too!

Our recording will start from tomorrow. I’ll record one song for this time. I should go to bed soon for tomorrow.

先ほどBMX Banditsのライブに行って来たよ。とてもいい感じでした。バンディッツとは10年ちょっと前にイギリスツアーを一緒に回ったのさ。3週間ばかしね。演奏を聞いていると、ツアーのことなど思い出して、またイギリスツアーに行きたくなったぜ。

シアトルももちろん行きたいっすよー。

さて、明日からレコーディング。一曲だけなんだけどね。今回。さあ、明日に備えて早く寝なくちゃ。
