Friday 9th October 2026 at SOCORE FACTORY, Osaka

少年ナイフのベーシストとして2008年から約10年にわたり活躍してくれた、りつこさん在籍のバンドmophing peopleのイベント「Ben Lee x mophing people JAPAN TOUR 2026」に呼んでいただきました。
We were invited to the “Ben Lee x mophing people JAPAN TOUR 2026” event by Ritsuko who served as the bassist for Shonen Knife for about a decade starting in 2008.

前日の8日はBen Leeが大阪のFlake Recordsでインストアをするということでりつこさんと待ち合わせて見に行きました。ギター1本で聴かせて、おしゃべりも楽しいライブでした。終了後、Benと少し話して「2006年のウドーフェスで大阪に来た時、見たよ」と言ったら、ああそうだった！と思い出しておられました。気さくな人でした。
On the 8th the day before the event, Ritsuko and I went to see Ben Lee’s in-store live at Flake Records, Osaka. It was fun show playing one guitar and talking was fun, too. After show, I talked with him and I said that I saw you at “Udo Fes” in 2006. He said “Oh, yes. I remember.” He is friendly.

さて、翌9日会場はSocore Factory。サウンドチェックの後、箕面のカレー店「カリーパンク」のチキンキーマカレーをケータリングで頂きました。大変おいしかったです。また食べたいです。ぺろりと頂きました。スパイスカレーの発祥は大阪だそうです。店主が今夜はDJをしておられました。
The day after in-store, the event was held on Friday 9th at Socore Factory, Osaka. After soundcheck, I had spicy chicken keema curry and rice from a curry restaurant “Curry Punk” in Minoh City. It was selicious and I would like to eat it again. Spicy style curry was started from Osaka. The restaurant owner did DJ on that day.
オープニングアクトは、オーストラリアから来られた「Fvneral」。打ち込みと同期させ、心地よい音楽を奏でていました。
Opening act was Fvneral from Australia. They played pleasant music synchronized with programmed backing tracks.

その次、我々の出番。今日のベースは、なるちゃんです。40分のセットで思い切り燃焼しました。見に来てくださった方々に感謝します。ありがとう！ライブ写真はわれらがスーパーフォトグラファー、太田智子さん撮影です。
Then we played. Today’s bassist is Naru. We played 40 minutes set with much energy. Thank you for coming to see us. Live photo was taken by Tomoko Ota, our super excellent photographer.

そのあと、mophing peopleの演奏へと続きます。90年代洋楽愛にあふれたかっこいい音楽です。りつこさんの演奏はもちろんイベントオーガナイズも素晴らしく、ほんとすごい。敬服します。少年ナイフバージョンのTop of the Worldも演奏されていました。
And mophing people played. They played cool songs with a love for Western pop and rock from the 90s. Ritsuko is amazing because not just for her performance, but also for her fantastic event organizing. I have nothing but admiration for her. They even played the Shonen Knife version of “Top of the World.”

 

最後はBen Lee。聴かせるステージ。歌詞も臨機応変に「ウドーフェスに来た～」とか今日出演のバンドの名前を織り込んだ曲もあり、楽しかったです。後半にmophing peopleをバックにバンド形態の演奏もありました。
Finally, there was Ben Lee, who put on a captivating performance. It was fun to hear him improvise with the lyrics. Singing things like “I was at Udo Fest” and weaving in the names of other bands performing that day. In the latter half of the set, he also performed with a full band of mophing people.

何かと忙しく、写真がほとんど撮れませんでした。今年はMen at Workを筆頭に、Regurgitator, Ben Lee, Fvneralとオージーバンドとの共演が多かったです。そして、3日後オーストラリア・ニュー人ランドツアーに出かけます。
I was so busy and couldn’t take pictures. We played with many Australian bands like Men at Work, Regurgitator, Ben Lee and Fvneral. We will off to Australia and New Zealand tour 3 days later from today.
