11時にチェックアウト。会場近くのホテルに宿泊していたため、入り時間の調整のため近隣のモールで１時間ほど時間つぶしすることになりました。ここはソルトレークシティーのダウンタウンなので駐車は路上のパーキングロットに。みよこさんが支払い中。
We checked out at 11:00. Since we were staying at a hotel near the venue, we had to kill about an hour at a nearby mall to adjust our arrival time. Being in downtown Salt Lake City, we had to use street parking. Miyoko was making the payment.

さて、いざモール内へ。
Going into the mall.

高級店も入る、きれいなモールです。
It is a beautiful mall that includes high-end stores.

何も買いませんでしたが、ぶらぶら散歩しました。
I bought nothing but took a walk.

その後、車で丘を登っていき、１５分で会場到着。ここは巨大なガーデンです。お庭だけあって楽屋には植物の寄せ植えが置いてありました。
After that, we drove up the hill and arrived at the venue in 15 minutes. It is a massive garden. True to the setting, the dressing room was decorated with a potted plant arrangement.

ケータリングへ行き、昼食。自分で好きな具をはさんで鉄板でプレスしてパニーニを作りました。ツナとチーズと赤玉ねぎのパニーニです。おいしい。
I went to the catering area for lunch. I made a panini by sandwich maker my choice of fillings between bread and pressing it on a griddle. Specifically, a tuna, cheese, and red onion panini. It was delicious.

その後サウンドチェック。ステージの前も花壇です。
After that we did soundcheck. In front of the stage was flower bed.

ステージの真正面の遠くの方に、はげ山があります。
There is a bare mountain in the distance, directly in front of the stage.

楽屋への帰り道、きれいなお花が植えてありました。
On the way back to the dressing room, there were beautiful flowers planted.

そして、夕食を食べに再びケータリングへ。タラのムニエル等。
Then, I headed back to the catering area for dinner, dishes like cod meunière.

楽屋に戻り、衣装に着替えてスタンバイしていたらAnthonyから「チープトリックのベーシストが来ている。会いたいか？」とLINEが来ました。あつこさんと私は腰を抜かさんばかりに驚きました。嘘やろ！？と思っていたらどうやら本当らしく、チープトリックのトム・ピーターソンさんが来られました。ぎゃー、すごすぎ！ほんまかいな！うれしすぎ！という事で少しお話して一緒に写真を撮ってもらいました。あつこさんの初めてのコンサートがチープトリックだった事や、わたしもチープトリックは大好きで何度もライブを見せてもらっています、とかお話ししました。
After returning to the dressing room and changing into my stage outfit, I was standing by when I received a message from Anthony “The bassist from Cheap Trick is here. Do you want to meet him?” Atsuko and I were absolutely floored—so shocked we nearly fell over. I couldn’t believe it at first, but it turned out to be true. Tom Petersson from Cheap Trick had actually came to see us. Oh my gosh, this is incredible! Is this for real? I’m so happy! So, I got to chat with him for a bit and have a photo taken together. We talked about that Cheap Trick was the first concert of Atsuko, and I mentioned that I love Cheap Trick too and have seen them perform live many times.

本番１０分前、興奮は最高潮。トムさんはとてもやさしくて気さくな方でした。ピックまでもらっちゃいました。家宝にします。
With ten minutes to go before the show, the excitement was at its peak. Tom was incredibly kind and friendly. He even gave me a guitar pick. I’m going to treasure it like a family heirloom.

そしてライブ本番。トムさんは「ステージの袖で見せてもらっていい？」と言われ、チープトリックのプロダクションマネージャーの方と一緒に少年ナイフのステージを全編ご覧になりました。何と光栄な事か！楽しいお客さんがたくさん見てくださり、大変元気にライブが出来ました。ありがとうございます！
Then came the actual performance. Tom asked, “May I watch from the side of the stage?” and proceeded to watch Shonen Knife’s entire set alongside Cheap Trick’s production manager.

ライブ後サイン会へ直行。長蛇の列が出来ました。すると何と後ろからトムさんが来られ、私たちのアルバムとグッズを買いたいとのこと。ええーっ、まさか、そんな、うれしすぎるやん。もちろんグッズはプレゼントして受け取ってもらいました。ライブの後、夜走りを３時間してネバダ州に入ったあたりのホテルで就寝。
After the show, I headed straight to the autograph session, where a long line had already formed. Then, to my surprise, Tom came up from behind and said he wanted to buy our album and merchandise. I couldn’t believe it. I was absolutely thrilled. Of course, I insisted on giving him the merchandise as a gift instead. After the show, we drove through the night for three hours and went to sleep at a hotel just after crossing into Nevada.
